AMARILLO, TEXAS (AP) -- Business leaders in Oklahoma City are starting talks with legislators and the alcohol industry about changing existing laws to allow wine and beer with a higher alcohol content to be sold in grocery stores.
Right now, only low alcohol content beer can be sold at convenience stores and grocery stores in Oklahoma.
Wine, strong beer, and liquor can only be purchased at liquor stores, bars and restaurants.
The group lobbying for change says the laws are archaic and an inconvenience.
Liquor retailers and distributors in support of the status quo say customers are better served by the specialty stores.
