AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Frito-Lays Company is making steps toward s all-natural snacking by revamping its product line for 2011.

The move comes after consumers made requests for foods made without artificial additives, preservative and colors.

Now, 50 percent of the company's product line is being made with all-natural ingredients, whereas before it was 30 percent, but does all-natural products translate into healthier snacking?

"It's starting to, just cause we're getting more and more information on healthy eating habits, and we're being encouraged with the fire department to eat better," said Dexter Cearley, Amarillo Resident & Firefighter.

One mom says every choice makes a difference.

"Of course chips are not a good choice, but I don't want my kids to feel like I'm just not letting them have anything or depriving them from fun stuff. So, I'm going to get the chips, but I'm going to choose the natural chips, the multi-grain and what not," said Erin Williamson, Amarillo Resident.

Micah Wing, BSA Clinical Nutrition Manager,  cautions consumer to still watch what they eat.

"The misconception to consumers could be that natural equals good for you, and that's not necessarily the case. Chips are still chips and so you know they're still high in fat, they're still high in salt, and so consumer need to remember that."

With health-conscious snacks being made, consumers we spoke to today had at least one thing in common to say.

"Every little bit helps, to be a little healthier," said Cearley.

The nutritionist we spoke to says if you are going to choose chips to snack on, just remember portion control.

One handful is considered a serving, and chips made with whole grains would be a better selection.
