SKELLYTOWN, TEXAS -- Officials in Skellytown are hoping to locate what they suspect to be a mountain lion roaming inside the city limits. County officials are on alert searching for the wild animal.

The large cat made its way to the center of town and killed two goats in a secure pen, Tuesday morning.

Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry said, the tracks left behind after the attack were larger than a bobcat. He also said that while they believe it may be a mountain lion there is no way to verify it, but the tracks indicate it is a large cat.

If you see the large cat that may be a mountain lion you should not attempt to approach it, you are asked to call the Carson County Sheriff's office at (806) 537-3511.

The game warden has been notified of the incident.
