CONWAY, TEXAS -- More than 2,000 grams of meth was found during a traffic stop in Carson County. A trooper stopped the 2005 Toyota for speeding on I-40, 6 miles east of Conway.
During the stop the trooper asked the driver, Jose Victor Vidana-Avelar, 48 of Mesa, AZ, for consent to search the vehicle. Vidana-Avelar consented to the search. The meth was found inside a hidden compartment inside the vehicle. The methamphetamine totaled 2,953 grams and is valued at $268,723.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony punishable by 10 years to life in prison and a $100,000 fine.
