AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The panhandle economy isn't perfect yet.
Yet for the second straight year, Amarillo's Salvation Army had a tough Christmas.
Major Tim Grider tells us many people gave as much as they could with what they had.
But the "Red Kettle Campaign" was about $21,000 short of budget this year.
And the Salvation Army's overall fund-raising is estimated to be more than $60,000 short at the end of the fiscal year.
But it's a number he thinks can be overcome with a little help.
"Jobs are always the answer and certainly that's no different with the salvation army, if folks can get jobs they don't need our shelter. They need our services as far as rent, and mortgage and utilities, mortgages we're doing for the first time so all these needs you hope will eventually fade away."
Grider also says 2010 was full of change and he expects good things from 2011.
