AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The trial for a man accused of shooting a teenage boy in Amarillo began Tuesday in a Potter County Courtroom.

Amarillo Police were called to the 1600 block of Goldenrod in early January of 2009. Responding officers found a 14-year-old male lying in the street, the male had been shot multiple times.

Andrew Colby Malleck was quickly identified as a suspect in the shooting. An arrest warrant was issued charging Malleck with aggravated assault and serious bodily injury. However, it took authorities some time to track down Malleck, who was arrested in March of 2009 after surrendering to police on West 6th Street.

The victim of the shooting did survive, there is no word on how long the trial is expected to last.
