AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Today representatives from 11 local law enforcement agencies participated in the signing of an updated domestic violence task force protocol.
The old protocol was written around 20 years ago and was outdated.
So a new 21st century protocol was implemented, with new technology that's available to officers who investigate domestic violence.
New technologies like audio and video recording capabilities for officers in the field.
Technology that the Amarillo Police Department feel will make a big impact.
"Our prosecutors will be able to use the audio video type evidence that is created through the investigation portion from our officers and that can be used to hopefully do better prosecutions," said Sgt. Jason Riddlespurger, Amarillo Police Department Detective.
Riddlespurger says it will help make the prosecutions more evidence based, rather than expecting the victims to show in court.
