AMARILLO,TEXAS -- In our line of work we often hear about the worst that people are capable of, so it's incredibly nice to get a phone call in the newsroom that restores your faith in humanity.
Thursday, Erinda Leura of Amarillo, called to tell me about a random act of kindness that happened to her at the Wal-Mart on Grand Street.
She was in line to check out with a basket full of groceries, when a complete stranger in front of her paid for her entire purchase. Erlinda told me, "I just thought that was so nice, because there were a lot of groceries."
Ms. Luera wanted me, and you, to know that there are still good people out there. She was so overwhelmed by the stranger's generosity, she gave her a big hug, but says, "I appreciated it so much, I didn't even think about asking her name!"
Erlinda, we hope your good samaritan sees this story, and knows how thankful you are that she stepped in to help you out for no reason at all.
I would like to tell that kind woman, thanks for showing that Panhandle Spirit is alive and well.
