AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Starbucks announced that they will add a larger size to their drink menu -- the 31-ounce "Trenta". The new size is eleven ounces larger than the Venti, which was the largest size the coffee chain had to offer, until now.
The larger size will only be available for iced coffee, iced tea and iced tea lemonade drinks.
The coffee shops will have the new size available nationwide by May 3, but it will debut in 14 states, including Texas, starting February 18.
We checked with the three Starbucks stores in Amarillo to find out when the Trenta size will go on sale.
The person we spoke with at the store at 2335 S. Georgia said they didn't know when they would start selling the larger size because they hadn't heard anything from corporate yet.
But the store at 3512 E Interstate 40 told Pronews 7 they have the new cups and they are ready to launch the new size on February 18.
The store on 3100 S. Soncy Rd. told us they do not have the cups yet, but they are expecting a truck sometime on the 18th. If they get the cups in, the new size will be available sometime in the afternoon.
Drinks in the Trenta size will cost 50 cents more than similar Venti-sized iced drinks, the company said.
The world's biggest coffee chain said unsweetened drinks in the new size will have fewer than 90 calories and that sweetened versions will have less than 230 calories.
