AMARILLO, TEXAS -- There were plenty of hungry people at The Big Texan tonight for its annual rib eating competition.
There were teams made up of everybody from average joes to Amarillo Venom football players. Each team starts out with 20 pounds of ribs, and they have 10 minutes to eat as many as they can. The team that has eaten the most at the end of the round wins.
The Big Texan also played hosted to the filming of a Swedish reality television show. And its two stars took the time to tell us their eating strategy. "Erik: just get in there and then when I hear the bell we'll see what happens, Mackan: it's going to be a mess, we're going to take a look at this first team now and then we'll see, Erik: get some advice and pick up how they do it, Mackan: we don't know how they eat here," said Erik Ekstrand and Mackan Edlund, Sweetish Reality TV Stars.
Not surprisingly, at the end of the round, the Venom players came out on top by eating 15.8 pounds of ribs.
