AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Two men have been arrested in connection with a personal robbery, and another suspect is still on the loose. On Sunday, police were called to an address in the 800 block on N. Manhattan on a man screaming for police. Officers found that a 27-year-old black man had been assaulted and robbed. The man said that three men in a white Chevrolet with Kansas license plates had robbed him.
The victim said they were giving him a ride from a bar on the Boulevard to another location. The driver stopped the car at a motel in the 2800 block of Amarillo Blvd. East. It was at that time when the backseat passenger attacked the victim, hitting him with his fists. The victim got out, but the men in the vehicle chased him down and beat him up. The suspects took his jacket and the wallet that was in a jacket pocket.
While officers were interviewing the victim, the suspect vehicle drove by on the boulevard. The victim pointed it out as the vehicle he had been riding in when he was robbed.
Officers pulled the car over in the 3500 block of Amarillo Blvd. East. Officers found the victim's wallet in the vehicle, and other evidence that tied the two occupants to the robbery.
The driver, Mahaud Saied, 25, and the passenger, Hussien Abtidon, 23, both of Amarillo were arrested, and booked into the Potter County Detention Center for robbery. The third suspect was not in the car at the time, and is only described as a black man wearing a purple shirt.
Paramedics checked the victim at the scene but his injuries did not require transport to the hospital.
