AMARILLO, TEXAS Several weeks ago I got a phone call from a local man whose son is serving our country in the U.S. Army. His son was scheduled to come late last year, so he bought plane tickets to come home and see his family. Of course, the Army changed his orders before he was able to use the plane tickets. As everyone knows, getting refunds on plane tickets is nigh impossible, unless you fork out the cash for the option.
That's when dad calls me. He told me the story, and I told him I would call Expedia and see what the deal was. It seemed to me, that a serviceman whose orders got changed should get a refund.
A very kind person with Expedia was more than happy to look into the situation and see what they could do after speaking with me.
The father called me today and let me know that Expedia contacted Delta, and after they saw his son's orders, they refunded his money.
In his message he thanked me for all my help, and said that without my help they never would have been able to get that money back. While I'm not sure my help was the deciding factor, it did get me a bit worked up. I'm not ashamed to say that while no tears fell, I was certainly a bit glassy eyed.
I would like to say bravo to Expedia and Delta for refunding this brave young man's money. While they may not be Panhandle based companies, their actions in this case were definitely in the Panhandle Spirit.
