Study rates drivers based on their zodiac sign
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Allstate insurance points out bad drivers listed by zodiac sign, and they guarantee not to raise rates based on data.
Allstate corporation has backed off and even apologized over a study done tongue in cheek about rating drives based on their zodiac sign.
The report indicated that Virgos are the worst drivers while Scorpios were the best. This is based on the zodiac calendar that includes the new symbol, Ophiuchus, that we posted a story about a couple weeks ago.
The insurer found that Virgos were 700 percent more likely to be in a car accident in the last year than Scorpios.
Scorpios were involved in only 1.5 percent of accidents last year, making them the best drivers on the road. The rest of the list, from best to worst drivers, was Ophiuchus, Cancer, Aquarius, Libra, Aries, Capricorn, Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, Taurus, Leo and Virgo.
The study also found that drivers whose Zodiac signs are tied to traits such as compassion, graciousness and resourcefulness had the fewest number of reported accidents.
Customers were complaining, saying they were worried that their premiums and rates would be affected, based on their astrological sign.
Allstate has since issued a statement after receiving complaints, and stipulated that no part of the underwriting process uses astrological signs. It also explained that astrological signs have nothing to do with the way Allstate bases coverage or sets rates, and that it would be actuarially unsound to do so.
The insurance company apologized for any confusion and assured their customers that Allstate, along with their customers takes their insurance expenses seriously. After this "entertainment" study back fired not only did the company apologize but they also removed the study from its online newsroom.
