Heart disease is the number one killer of women across the United States, and to help raise awareness and show support the American Heart Association is asking you to " Go Red."

"Go Red for Women" is a nationwide movement to help wipe out heart disease.

Every Friday this month they are asking men and women to wear something red, and Amarillo has been doing their part year after year to help save women.

"It is imperative that we get the word out and that we educate women on how to stay heart-healthy. Also how to look for the signs and symptoms of having a heart attack since it does differ from men, and what they can do to prevent any future attack through education such as diet and exercise," said Leanna Tijerina, NWTH Heart Hospital Administrative Director.

A "Go Red" women's expo will take place at the Amarillo Civic Center Feb. 15.
