AMARILLO, TEXAS The Texas Department of Public safety said that two Amarillo men are dead following an accident early Sunday morning, and alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor.
A DPS report stated that 32-year-old Paul Jaimes and his passenger 30-year-old Cillian Donnchad Collins, were travelling south on FM 1912 around 1:15a.m. Sunday. As they approached the intersection with US 287 Jaimes failed to yield the right of way to a tractor trailer traveling westbound on US 287.
The semi struck their vehicle, and Collins was ejected. Both Jaimes and Collins were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi did not need to be taken to the hospital for his injuries. Alcohol use by Jaimes is suspected as being involved in this collision.
Autopsies will be performed on both victims.
