AMARILLO, TEXAS -- UPDATE Monday, February 14:  The man who died in a house fire last week has been identified. The Amarillo Fire Marshal's office said that 46-year-old Arnulfo Garcia Sanchez died from smoke and smoot inhalation.

Sanchez was found dead in a garage on South Maryland on Thursday night. Another man, Romulo Trevino, 45, was taken to Lubbock for several burns to his body.

UPDATE: 1:51 p.m. Pronews 7 just spoke to Lt. Gary Trupe with the Amarillo Special Crimes Unit. He told us that an autopsy is currently being performed on the body of a man found dead inside a garage after it caught fire. Lt. Trupe says the fire marshal's office is now handling the case after the Special Crimes Unit ruled out homicide  or any foul play as the cause of death. The indentity of the man is still unknown, as well as the cause of the fire.  Keep refreshing this page for updates.

UPDATE: 9:35a.m. According to a news release sent out Friday morning by the Amarillo Police Department  the man that was sent to the hospital with burns has been identified as 45-year-old Romulo Trevino. The release does say the deceased person was male, but an Amarillo Fire Department spokesman told us that the victim has not been identified yet.

Pronews 7's Lindsey Stiner is working on the story today. We will be posting updated information as it becomes available.

UPDATE: 11:05 p.m.

Police on the scene of the fire have provided the ProNews 7 crew with more details. The fire started in the detached apartment-garage at 400 Maryland.  When fire crews arrived on scene they found the garage on fire.  After they got the fire out, they found someone dead inside. Police do not know if the person was a man or a woman because the body is badly burned.  We can also confirm another person was taken to the hospital with burns. Police said the person that owns the house let transients come and stay in the garage when it became cold outside. Police and fire crews are still investigating what caused the fire.
