AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Starting in a couple of weeks, a lot of material at Amarillo's libraries and in the Harrington Library Consortium will be going "e-book."

A couple of years ago, Amazon introduced the Kindle.

And since then, that trend has caught on like wildfire.

Just one small compact device can hold all kinds of books.

And now, the Amarillo Library is headed in that direction, but not with the Kindle.

It's designed for the Nook and Samsung Reader, reading device.

How will that affect the way you may check out books in the future?

"When you check our an e-book from our web-site it will be available for seven days or 14 days, the patron will choose how long they want to check it out but it will disappear from their device after that time," said Stacy Clopton Yates, Dowtown Library PR Coordinator.

The e-books will be available through the over-drive system that is linked to the Amarillo libraries website.
