AMARILLO, TEXAS -- If you've been waiting since last week for a UPS package to arrive, you can blame the weather. While the snow is mostly melted now, it created a backlog at local UPS facilities that is still being cleared out.
Pronews 7 spoke with Chris Paxton, Manager of the Amarillo and Pampa UPS Centers, and he said that the storms that have hit the region over the past couple of weeks have created a backlog of deliveries that they are feverishly working to get cleared. Paxton said that deliveries to some places proved impossible because of the snow, and that because of the sheer volume of packages they deliver on a daily basis they can get backed up fast.
Drivers and other staff have been brought in from out of town to help them with the accumulation of packages. Paxton said he understands people's frustration, that they want their packages. He anticipated the backlog to be cleared out by Thursday, a day ahead of what they originally planned.
It's not only the storm that hit Amarillo, but across the region that has created the issue. When a truck gets stuck at another hub, it puts them behind, and that added to problems caused by conditions here in the Panhandle
Paxton urges people to call 1-800-PICK-UPS to check on the status of their packages.
