AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Class 4 Winds held a conference to showcase several businesses within the region that work in the renewable energy industry.
The Panhandle has seen growth in wind energy development, and part of that is due to working up a system of transmission lines.
Construction of those lines will start sometime in the middle of this year and should be done by the end of twenty thirteen.
But energy is not all these companies are generating.
"They are going to have the need for very highly skilled employee's and of course we've got a great program in place at amarillo college to provide these technical skills and it is going to provide job growth and these are going to be good long term jobs for our region," said Sherry Kunka, Class 4 Winds President Board of Directors.
And Tim Donnels of Zarges Aluminum told us 20% of total electrical consumption will be produced by wind power and will continue to be a huge compliment to electrical needs.
