Statewide warrant round-up begins
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- UPDATE: In the first two days since the warrant round-up kicked off, the Amarillo Police Department has cleared 522 warrants.

If you have or think you may have an outstanding warrant, the Amarillo Municipal Court and the Amarillo Police Department, will give you about two weeks to get it straightened out.
Warrant notices will be sent out in the mail. These cards are to remind you that you have outstanding warrants and need to contact the court and get them taken care of, before officers begin to serve the warrants.
"Save yourself some possible additional fines or impounds. If you're driving a car and you got warrants we would have to arrest you and you're car would be impounded. It would obviously save you a lot of embarrassment at work, at home, in the neighborhood and things like that. Just go ahead and take care of your business," said Corporal Jerry Neufeld, Amarillo Police Department.
Officers will begin serving arrest warrants on March 7th. So if you have an outstanding warrant you will need to get it taken care of before then, otherwise an Amarillo police officer may be knocking on your door. Officers will begin serving the arrest warrants at the wanted persons' home, work, or wherever officers can find them.
"It's peoples responsibility to pay for their actions and they need to come in and take care of that. People are just better off to get it taken care of down here on their own time rather than on our time," said Cpl. Neufeld.
Victoria Medley, City of Amarillo Municipal Court Administrator, said that there are currently 38,802 Municipal Court warrants outstanding with a value of approximately $11 million.
The Municipal Court will be open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. On Thursday's the court will stay open until 7:00 p.m.
