Grinder started blaze that burned 75 acres

UPDATE 3:20p.m.: Most of the counties in Texas are currently under burn bans. To see if your county is one of them click here.

Update: According to railroad officials, sparks from a railway grinder started the fire.

UPDATE: Scanner traffic seems to indicate that crews are getting a handle on the fire, talking about opening roads again.  Our crews have just confirmed that the fire is being called under control at this time.

UPDATE:  There are reports of one wreck involving at least 2 semi-trucks, no word on injuries.

UPDATE: The fire has now caused for I-40 east to be closed, at the split. Crews at the scene tell us at least one home is threatened at this time.

Firefighters from Potter County are busy fighting a wildfire just outside the city limits, near the US 287, I-40 split. According to scanner traffic, one structure is threatened at this time.

We have a crew on the scene, and will update you with any additional information as soon as it comes in.
