Special Olympic athletes hitting the hard wood

Special Olympics of Texas (SOTX) athletes will be giving it their best shot this weekend at their regional tournament.

On Friday, Mar. 4, athletes will square off against members of the Amarillo media, including some of the Pronews 7 team. The night begins at 5:30 with an inspiring Opening Ceremonies followed by the games at 7:30.

Saturday, SOTX athletes will once again hit the hard wood fighting for gold in the Regional Basketball Tournament. The athletes will begin playing at 10:30 a.m. ending at around 5:30. Registration is set to begin at 7:30.

The two-day event takes place at the Amarillo High School Activity Center located at 4225 Danbury in Amarillo.

SOTX, a privately funded non-profit organization, works year-round to provide sports training and athletic training to more than 40,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Texas. For more information on SOTX, visit their website.
