"It's basically over for Anglos," is what one Texas demographer is concluding about the future.
According to The Houston Chronicle, Steve Murdock, a demographer, says two of every three Texas children are now non-Anglo and the trend will grow in the future. Murdock is a former U.S. Census Bureau director and now director of the Hobby Center for the Study of Texas at Rice University.
Murdock also told The Houston Chronicle that between 2000 and 2040, enrollment in Texas public schools will see a 15 percent decline in Anglo children. During the same period, Hispanic children will have a 213 percent increase, he said.
