AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Several calls are pouring-in asking what people just like you can do to help the evacuees of the recent fires.
Our American Red Cross chapter volunteers and board members are making sure all evacuees are being taken care of and situated, but your help is still needed.
Our local Red Cross director of development fills us in on exactly what they need right away.
"It's hard to tell at this point what kind of response is going to be required over the next few days, but immediately we are responding, we're containing wild fires and we're opening shelters. We need bottled water and individually wrapped snacks that's always helpful right now," said Susan Ginn, Texas Panhandle Red Cross Chapter.
Food and water donations can be dropped off at 1800 South Harrison, but Ginn also says money donations are always greatly appreciated especially when disasters -- like the recent fires -- strike.
You can make money donations on the phone or online.
