AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Update: According to the Carson County Judge, the fire is under control and crews are now working hotspots.
Update: Pronews 7 just got off the phone with the Carson County Judge, Lewis Powers. Judge Powers told us the fire is located 8 miles northeast of 136 and FM 1342. He said the fire is in rough terrain but that crews have narrowed it down, and that the majority of the fire was contained but that the leading edge was still spreading. Sheriff Deputies tell our crews the fire started around the Charless Ranch and is moving in a southwestern direction. Most of the land is pasture land, we are told that no homes are in the path of the fire. Judge Powers said the fire has already burned between 500-1,000 acres.
Firefighters from Potter and Carson Counties are working a fire near 136 and 1342, which is north of the Pantex Plant.
Pronews 7's Lucas Jefferson in on the scene and will be providing updated information as it becomes available.
