AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The widespread devastation from Sunday's grassfires is a quick reminder how much the Texas Panhandle of the American Red Cross helps our community when disasters strike. The local chapter kicked off their 4th annual Heroes Campaign Friday morning. Businesses and organizations will be asking the community for donations throughout the month. Each with a goal of raising $1,000 which will stay locally.

"The Heroes money is so important. We need to make sure that we can maintain a chapter of the American Red Cross here in Amarillo so that we can in fact provide disaster services relieve and all of the other things we do," Susan Ginn, Texas Panhandle Chapter of the Red Cross.
