AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Update:
Just before 7:30 p.m. APD officers were sent to check on a 67 year-old man who was threatening to harm himself.
Police said he was armed with a pistol and officers heard a shot go off. Officers entered the house, but when he started yelling at the officers called for back up.
The SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called to the scene. Finally just before 2 a.m. the man came outside, and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
His name is not being released and no charges have been filed.

Just before 9 p.m. Saturday night police shut down the southwest area of Amarillo at 45th starting at Ridgecrest and going down to Shawnee.
ProNews7called the Amarillo Police department and it said a man barricaded himself inside a home and made suicide threats. He is armed and apparently fired a few shots, so a Mobile Command Unit, SWAT Teams, firecrews, and AMS were called out to the scene and are standing by.
