AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Just a week ago today the high winds of the Panhandle helped spread fires that burnt many peoples homes.
After driving through the Palisades this afternoon, I quickly realized that although no one lose their life last weekend many lost their memories.
"We're going to just have to start all over again," said Tommy Gunn, a Palisades man who lost his home.
Gunn, a volunteer fire fighter, had a little bit of a different view of his house last Sunday.
"I stood in the neighbors yard and watched it finish burning down, we couldn't put it out the power lines were laying across the top of it."
Even after gunn watched his house go down that didn't stop him from doing his best to help out his neighbors.
"We couldn't do anything for my house, we tried helping the neighbors but the way the winds were blowing there was nothing you could do."
So what's next for a man who lost his house after living there for 11 years?
"We're not going anywhere, some of my neighbors they're talking about not coming back, just cleaning up and selling out but we're going to build."
Gunn went on to say that most of his stuff was insured but he will never be able to replace the things that meant the most to him, his memories.
