After 15 days in a row with gas prices going up, some people are looking for alternatives when it comes to their transportation.
Hybrids have been around for a while, and the first Chevy Volt to arrive in Amarillo made its way to Plains Chevy overnight.
The Volt reportedly can drive up to 40 or 50 miles on a single charge, and after that, the generator kicks in with a gas engine and you can drive up to 300 miles at almost 40 miles per gallon.
And not only can you offset higher gas prices, they're even smart phone friendly.
"If you don't have to run this thing on the highway, you're just running in town, you will never run out of a charge..just plug it in at home and go. There's even a new app in the thing where you can run everything through your smart phone!", says Alex Sianez, new car sales manager."
This first volt was bought sight unseen but we're told there are two more volts on the way.
