Woman gets 6 years in prison for distributing more than 170 lbs.of marijuana

CLOVIS, N.M. -- A Clovis woman was sentenced to six years in prison for one count of Distribution of Marijuana, a third degree felony.

According to 9th Judicial District Attorney Matthew Chandler, Chantille Woods, 42, distributed more than 170 pounds of marijuana.

It was April 2009 when a N.M. State Police Officer stopped Woods' vehicle and detected a strong scent of marijuana. After receiving permission to search her vehicle, the officer discovered two large duffle bags behind the passenger seat. Inside the bags was more than 170 pounds of marijuana in bundles wrapped in black tape.

Woods was sentenced to serve six years in the Department of Corrections. She also faces a mandatory two year parole period.
