HOOKER, OKLA. -- The Okla. Panhandle will be getting some national attention as film crews will be in the area later this week to shoot a national commerical.

According to Tri-County Electric Coop., the area was chosen for an upcoming commercial being produced by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives. The commercial is called "A Look Back," and will be aired on national television.

Film crews will be in the area on Thurs. and Fri., March 17-18 and will take shots from a helicopter as well as on foot.

Tri-County's Electric Service Area was chosen out of 723 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives across the nation, according to a release. Crews will film Tri-County Electric workers changing out a utility pole and also two wind farms south of Guymon will be shot for the commercial.

“We wanted to film a commercial looking back at the roots of cooperatives and the challenges they faced getting established decades ago,” said Jim Bausell, Chief Operating Officer of Touchstone Energy Cooperatives. “We are going to show the correlation between those challenges and the ones facing our members today – rising costs and the increasing need for energy efficiency.”

The electric cooperative says residents of the Okla. Panhandle should not be alarmed if they see film crews or helicopters in the area Thurs. or Fri.

Chief Executive Officer Jack Perkins says he is pleased with the cooperative being chosen for this commercial.

“We believe strongly in Touchstone Energy’s message of energy efficiency and have been promoting the Together We Save campaign for some time,” said Perkins. “Being part of this commercial is a way to inspire consumers to find ways to save energy while also garnering national exposure for our crews and our landscape.”
