Hutchinson County Emergency Management has confirmed the fire is now under control. An air drop was used to help contain the fire. Four homes were saved.

In just a little more than two hours, the fire is estimated to have burned close to 300 acres. Officials with Hutchinson County said a discarded cigarette could be to blame.

Crews are currently working a large grassfire in Hutchinon County.

Danny Richards, Coordinator of Emergency Management for Hutchinson County, tells Pronews 7 the fire is located two miles north of the dam just off Highway 687. The fire started just before 3:00 this afternoon.

Eight fire trucks are now working the blaze, but the terrain is very rugged and difficult to fight in that area, Richards said.

Air tankers have been called in to help put the fire out. So far, it has burned several hundred acres.
