Two arrested for burglarizing area home

Two men have been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a home in a residential area southeast of Mesilla Park.

According to the Potter County Sheriff's Department, a Deputy stopped a truck that had several objects protruding from the bed of the truck in the 8000 block of Monk. While speaking with the occupants of the truck, the Deputy noticed lose electronic items as well as other suspected stolen items in the cab of the truck.

When the men's stories did not line up and were inconsistent, the Deputy requested a second unit to check the residence where the truck was initially spotted. Inside the home, Deputies determined it had been burglarized.

David Watley, 26, and Adrian Hinojos, 19 were arrested on a charge of Burglary of Habitation which is a second degree felony.

Both gave statements admitting to their parts to the burglary.
