SALISBURY, NC -- Getting stopped by the cops is never fun. People always have their excuses, but I bet you haven't heard this one.
According to WBTV, 21-year-old Richard Blanscet claimed television host Dr. Phil warned him an alien invasion had begun near his him. That's the story he told investigators after crashing his car several times. He was fleeing from police going more than 100 miles per hour.
He told deputies he had been smoking "Wicked X Herbal Smoke," which he says is a "legal form of marijuana" when he got the warning from Dr. Phil.
The Sheriff's report is a bit different. The report says they were called to the house to help EMS deal with a combative patient. EMS reported that Blanscet had almost hit them with a car at an intersection. A deputy at that intersection saw Blanscet drive his Jaguar through a cemetery then then through a church parking lot.
Deputies were then advised of Blanscet nearly hitting the emergency workers so they began to follow him. It was then that police say Blanscet started to drive his car extremely fast, at more than 100 mph. After crashing his car to where it was not operable, police say Blanscet told them of Dr. Phil's alien invasion warning and the legal marijuana.
"When this was happening I was not high, the noises from the TV were hurting my brain in a way that made me want to vomit," Blanscet told WBTV. "That got rid of any sort of high I could have had because it was so painful."
He spoke to the media because he wanted others to know what could happen to them if they took the "legal form of marijuana." Even though he appears to have had a rough experience, he still thinks it should be legal for adults 18 and older.
Blanscet said the aliens were coming through the electronics in his home, reported WBTV. He reportedly left home after slammed down two phones, pulling the smoke detector off the wall and turning off his TV. He then went outside and thought he saw a helicopter which he believed was aliens coming after him.
The blue lights from the cops is what got him. He said he thought the lights were the 'aliens.'
Blansce was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest driving while impaired and resisting an officer.
