AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Help across the community is still in full swing for the homeowners who lost everything during the wildfires.
One of the events taking place is the Wildfire Benefit Ranch Rodeo at the Amarillo Cowboy Church.
Bull riding started at 1 p.m. and then the rodeo started at 4:30 p.m.
About 20 ranch teams were sponsored by businesses around town and the benefit is hoping to raise around $30,000.
"At the time we were hoping to pull anywhere from $1,500 to $1,800 out of this benefit, but it just turned into what I think is going to be the greatest thing that I've done to help somebody that lost their homes and what not," said Dick Buffington, River Falls and Curry Cattle Company.
The rodeo will be in full swing until about 10 p.m. and there is also a live and silent auction that will taking place.
"There are so many people who were affected by the recent wildfires and many of them are in the western genre -- they are riders, they have ranches and they're just fine folks and they need help. Some have received donations, but there's so many more that need help," said Phyllis Payne, Wildfire Benefit Ranch Rodeo Benefit Coordinator.
If you can't make the rodeo but would like to help visit any Happy State Bank branch and make a donation to the Wildfire Benefit Ranch Rodeo.
