AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Several folks are enjoying the beautiful day outdoors -- including some of our four legged friends.

There was an usually amount of Great Danes at Sam Houston Park, but not by coincidence.

The Great Dane Club of Amarillo hosted a play date and meet and greet at the park, and the point was to simply meet other Great Dane owners and hopefully recruit more members.

"They're definitely a different type of breed. They're very good dogs and very people-oriented dogs. They're just a huge breed with a lot of love to give -- definitely have their own personality," said Haley Jellison, Great Dane Club of Amarillo Founder.

The great dane club was started last October and so far they have 30 members.

A little bit of Great Dane trivia -- 42 inches is the current world record of the longest length from paw to shoulder.
