CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) -- There's an increasing push in eastern New Mexico to harness the power of the wind.

Terra-Gen Power LLC of Denver revealed plans early this month for a 150-megawatt wind farm, the second in Roosevelt County.

Vert-I-Go Wind LLC has announced plans to build a similar farm south of Clovis.

In addition, the Mariah Wind Project in nearby Parmer County, Texas, has partnered with Tres Amigas, which is an ambitious project to connect the nation's three major power grids at a central distribution facility in Curry County.

Wind energy consultant Lee Tillman says wind energy has a good future in eastern New Mexico for both small and large wind machines.

Tillman says there's great potential as the industry overcomes obstacles such as transmission and small wind development.
