Hotels robbed at gunpoint overnight

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Two Amarillo hotels were robbed at gunpoint by men wearing all black and ski masks early Thursday morning.

Amarillo Police says officers were dispatched to the Days Inn at 1701 I-40 East just before 1 a.m. According to police, two black males entered the lobby and one allegedly brought out a pistol and demanded money from a clerk who was a 63-year-old male. Police say the second male then ran behind the counter to get the money. The suspects were wearing all black with black ski masks. After the robbery, the suspects fled but no vehicle was seen.

Just after 2 a.m, police say three black males entered the Hampton Inn at 690 I-40 West. One of them allegedly jumped over the counter and took money from the cash drawer. Another brandished a pistol and the third was a look-out, police said. All three suspects in this incident were wearing ski masks, gloves and hoodies. They fled and no vehicle was seen.

Fortunately, no one was injured in these armbed robberies but police say it appears the same suspects robbed both hotels.
