An Amarillo Police Officer was punched in the face by a man being arrested for an indecent exposure charge Thursday afternoon.
Police say they had an outstanding warrant for Melvin Glenn Carter, 50, for Indecent Exposure out of Randall County. The charge stemmed from an incident on March 15.
After officers waited 10 minutes for Carter to open the door, he was placed under arrest. Carter was advised to lie on the ground and place his hands to his side.
That's when police say Carter suddenly rollve over and threw an officer off to the side and began to get up. He then allegedly struck the officer in the face with a closed fist, police said.
Carter was then tasered and taken into custody on the Indecent Exposure warrand and for Assault on a Public Servant.
