AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Summer is just around the corner and we're pretty sure most kids are looking forward to a break from class, but taking a break from learning or not staying active is something no parent wants.
The "What's A Kid To Do Fair" was back at Westgate Mall by popular demand, and it displays an array of camps and activities that kids can do during the summer to keep them off the couch and their minds active.
Amarillo has plenty of camps to offer ranging from things such as CSI Camp to even Paleontology Academy Camp.
"It's good for kids to be active in things that are going on that they are interested in. Video games are great but so is learning -- learning how to act, how to dance, about science or scouts. It's just important for kids to be busy," said Susie Self, Globe News Special Events Coordinator.
According to one mom, staying busy during the summer equals healthy habits.
"They have a lot less structure in the summer, so having these activities and things they can go to and participate in gives them some form of exercise -- not just sitting around watching TV all summer. Camps keep them active -- they're moving and they learn a lot of new things," said Renae Holland, local Mom.
And what some kids may not pay attention to -- wont hurt them.
"As long as they think they're having fun then they get the extra benefits, but they don't even realize it," said Holland.
There was more than 30 camps at the mall today so to check them all out click here .
