POTTER COUNTY,TEXAS -- Two people are behind bars after police found narcotics and suspected stolen copper wires and tools in their car.

Daniel Clayton Smalley, 39, and Carly Kaye Mitchell, 32, were arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance. Mitchell was also charged with fraudulent use/possession of identifying information after three items were found not belonging to her.

The Potter County Sheriff's Office says they were sent to a residence in the 4200 block of Long Dr. To investigate possible illegal drug activity. A vehicle was seen leaving the home as officers arrived. Police say it was eventually stopped and a K-9 alerted for the presence of narcotics.

Officers uncovered a controlled substance as well as a large amount of copper wire and tools. The wire and tools are suspected of being stolen out of a Randall County burglary.

The incident remains under investigation.
