AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Imagine walking into your home and finding an intruder coming out. That's exactly what one Amarillo homeowner found when he came home.

Amarillo Police say a man walked into his home on Monday night in the West Hills neighborhood in the 4400 block of west Third when he saw an intruder coming out of the house. It appeared that the intruder was carrying something.

The homeowner then retrieved a handgun, came back out to chase the intruder then fired a round into the air, police said. Evidence of forced entry was found but no word yet as to whether anything was taken.

The suspected intruder remains on the loose. Police say he is a five-foot-eight male. He was last seen searing a dark hoodie and dark pants.
