According to the Clovis News Journal, a judge declared a mistrial Tuesday in the first-degree murder case of Lonzell Wiggins. The mistrial wa declared after potential jurors saw Wiggins being walked to the courthouse in handcuffs and shackles. The judge defined it as an issue of visibility that could potentially taint the jurors perspective of Wiggins.

Eastern New Mexico University has narrowed its search for a new women's basketball coach, according to the Portales News Tribune. Phone interviews are now being conducted and finalists will be brought in for interviews.

The Friona Star News reports that Bovina School Superinendent, Dale Fullerton, has been inducted into the New Mexico Athletic Association Hall of Fame. He previously served as a referee for many years.

The Borger News Herald reports that a new hotel is set to open Thursday. The Hampton Inn will open its doors March 31. It is located at 415 West Wilson Street in Borger.

According to the Pampa News, Pampa High School's production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" is moving on to UIL One Act Play competition. The newspaper also reports Dalhart's play also advanced to the regional competition.
