AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Locals who fell victim to the fires over a month ago had an opportunity to grab whatever they needed from a giveaway.

The Cowboy Church of Amarillo hosted a garage giveaway to help out neighbors with things like clothing, TV's, furniture and other household items.

"We've been wanting to do a garage giveaway for several months just to kind of meet the needs of the people in our city that are underprivileged. So, we just thought it be a great opportunity to open up and have a garage giveaway and make it primary to the fire victims. We think church ought to be outward instead of inward," said Pastor Ty Jones, Cowboy Church Senior Pastor.

In true Panhandle spirit many of the people who showed up came to drop off items.

"It's this area we live in. Amarillo is a great community -- might not be the most perfect place to live weather wise -- but as far as people it's the greatest place in the world to live. Everybody is giving and sharing here, and our items here are limited -- we're trying to just meet the basic needs of people," said Pastor Jones.

Today's garage giveaway was reserved for fire victims only, but they will re-open tomorrow from 9 to 3 p.m. and will be open to everybody.
