AMARILLO, TEXAS -- If your medicine cabinet is getting full, it might be a good idea to head to the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy where you'll find the Medication Cleanout going on.
Pharmacy students and volunteers will be taking any outdated and unused medications to help keep the community safe and clean.
"Unused medication generally remains in the house. People just don't know what to do with them -- they're told don't throw them away, don't flush them but nobody really tells them what to do with these medications. Unfortunately that creates a source for poisonings and a source for abuse and misuse," said Jeanie Jaramillo, Texas Panhandle Poison Center
The Medication Cleanout will take place April 9 from 10 to 2 p.m. at the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy on Coulter St. across from Northwest Texas Hospital.
The school will be working alongside the Texas Panhandle Poison Center.
