AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The body found in a ditch Wednesday morning has been positively identified as that of a man reported missing.
James Edward Pennington, 63, was reported missing by his family in March 2011. His ID from Las Vegas, Nev., was found on him.
Police tell Pronews 7 Pennington's family had not seen or heard from him since December 2010 but a missing persons report was not filed until March 2011.
Preliminary autopsy results show the man had been in the water for a long period of time, possibly as late as Dec. 2010, police said. No signs of injury or traums were found on the body.
Police say the autopsy is being listed as pending toxicology and further microscopic studies.
