On Thursday morning April 21st, 2011 at approximately 11:14 am, Borger Police Officers were dispatched to 120 Garrett Street in reference to an Unattended Death. The call for service was called in to the Borger Police Department Dispatch by a citizen from Meals on Wheels that delivers food to the elderly. Once Officers arrived on scene, they discovered the deceased, identified as Lois Kimbrell, 97 years of age, inside of the residence. The residence belonged to the deceased and it is believed at this time that she resided there alone.
Upon initial investigation into the scene, circumstances led Officers to believe that this was a suspicious death. Detectives from the Borger Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene to investigate the death further. Upon the Detectives initial investigation, it was decided to contact the Texas Rangers to assist in the investigation due to the extent of the investigation and the need for extra manpower of an incident of this scope. Investigators were on scene most of the evening and resumed the investigation on Friday April 22nd, 2011. An autopsy was also scheduled and performed this morning. After further investigation and obtaining the preliminary autopsy results, the incident is now being classified and investigated as a Homicide. At this point and time in the investigation, the cause and manner of death is still being withheld. Motive, possible suspect(s), as well as all other leads are still being investigated and followed up on by Investigators. The Borger Police Department is asking anyone that may have any information in reference to this incident to contact the Borger Police Department at (806)-273-0930. Upon calling, ask for the Duty Sergeant, who will then take any and all information and then disseminate the information to the Investigators for further investigation and follow up.

Borger police and the Texas Rangers are investigating the death of someone in Borger. Thursday morning before noon, officers were dispatched to a residential area in the eastern section of Borger in reference to a death. It was adult, but officials are not releasing if it was a male or female.
At this point in time, they said they can't rule out foul play or natural causes. That will not be determined until an autopsy is completed. The body was found by a citizen who went to the home.
The Borger police do want citizens to know that this is an isolated incident. Preliminary information from the autopsy could be as early as Friday afternoon.
