AMARILLO, TEXAS -- It's Easter Sunday and that means Amarillo parks were filled with people grilling, playing games and trying to find that ever elusive Easter Bunny.
I went out to Thompson Memorial Park this afternoon to see what people had planned for the day, and to be honest I wish I could've joined them.
There were people grilling, playing football and kids waiting in anticipation to hunt for easter eggs on what was a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
But one man says you have to be prepared to make small sacrifices to get the right spot.
"We got here about four o'clock this morning to get a spot. We were like the first ones here and we made it out here and we have all of our family coming from Hereford right now, they probably just got out of church, and we're trying to enjoy the nice beautiful day. They said it was going to rain but hopefully not," said Elliott Perez, an early riser from Hereford.
To one mom this day is about more than just grilling and hunting for eggs it's also about family and teaching her kids about the meaning of Easter.
"We just get together with the family every year and come out and have a good day together and try to teach the kids that it's not about rabbits and eggs its more about, Jesus and what he's done for us and the way he died and his resurection and we just try to teach that and instill that in all of our children," said Jodi Montoya, an Amarillo Resident.
And Perez says that he is glad everything is closed today, because it makes it easier to see his family and his friends.
"It's not every Sunday we get to hang out, most of our families work on Sunday's, but now that everything's closed we get to hang out and spend some time together," said Perez.
The overall feel I got from being out there was people used this day to enjoy time with their families and friends, all while having some fun to top it off.
