Man stabbed for trying to prevent assault to woman

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- One man is in serious condition after he was stabbed for reportedly trying to prevent a male from assaulting a female.

The incident happened early Sunday morning around 3 a.m. at the My Club Bar located off the Fritch Highway. Police say Hector Loya-Baez, 23, of Amarillo, got involved in an altercation while he was working to prevent an assault by a male to a female.

According to police, Loya was cut several times and was transported to a local hospital. The suspect has been been fully identified and Loya's injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.
