ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO (AP) -- Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry's administration has asked the City Council to award a contract that would keep red-light cameras at city intersections clicking away for at least another year.
Berry recommended the selection of Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. The company has been running the cameras under a series of temporary agreements.
Chief Administrative Officer Rob Perry says council approval means the city would enter into a one-year contract that contains options for up to four more years.
Perry tells the Albuquerque Journal the basic operations of the system wouldn't change. The cameras would remain at 14 intersections, and fines would remain at $75.
The recommendation was introduced at Monday's council meeting and referred to a committee.
